Wishing that things were different, but believing that they will be one day , sometimes feeling frustrated, sometimes screaming out curses at what is going on , sometimes feeling pity and pitiful but again believing that this is our country with its good and bad sides and it's us that will make things go better ,trying to light a candle anywhere and anytime I am given the chance and again believing the real owners of this country do the same , I love here and I am happy with my country.;)

I am happy despite all the mishaps.

I totally agree with you: Despite all the opportunity I had, I never thought to live this country. And do you know what is funny? I believe all the countries belong to God and no state has a right to prevent others from living in these lands, and my "vatan" idea is probably different from yours. Even so, I cannot leave this land which knows so much about me and about which I know so much.

Plea

This country shaped like the head of a mare

Coming full gallop from far off Asia

To stretch into the Mediterranean

THIS COUNTRY IS OURS.

Bloody wrists, clenched teeth

bare feet,

Land like a precious silk carpet

THIS HELL, THIS PARADISE IS OURS.

Let the doors be shut that belong to others

Let them never open again

Do away with the enslaving of man by man

THIS PLEA IS OURS.

To live! Like a tree alone and free

Like a forest in brotherhood

THIS YEARNING IS OURS.

If you, Can, don't mind , I'd like to add another question asking those who are not happy with the country they live in "where if it is not Turkey and why ?"

May I raise another question? What do you think about the famous slogan "Either Love or Leave" meaning in Turkish "Ya sev, Ya terket". Do you think a person has to leave that country where he/she lives, if he doesn't love it at all?

I wish they were allowed to go anywhere they would like to , because I believe that such people do more harm than good to Turkey even if they do not mean any

Imagine a teacher who dislikes Turkey as a colleague of mine does , how do you think his or her students will be affected?

Absolutely ! I am tired of people who will criticise everything and everyone whenever they feel they are cornered and will stand in your way let alone help with things but will not do anything good themselves
But what if I don't like the situation in which country is but want to improve it?

I think all mishaps we have nowadays strengthen our love of
home. And none can deter us from loving TURKEY...And i can't take even a short breath without my country.

Absolutely !
Just to make it clear once again, are you saying that those who don't love it should leave it (http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig6/vuk2.html)?

As for the "love it or leave it" thing, I've left mine though I love it very dearly, and here's an anecdote: whenever I come back home to Turkey, some guard at the crossing'll comment, when I tell him I live here, about how the traffic is usually going the other way (i.e., from Turkey to the United States). I usually think something along the lines of, "It's the same old crap everywhere anyway; it's just that the height of the piles thereof is a bit different."
