If You Had a Magic Wand for a Day, What Would You Do With It?

If You Had a Magic Wand for a Day, What Would You Do With It?

Depends—would what I did with the magic wand last for just that day, or would the effects of my magic-wand-waving outlast that day to become permanent?

I was going to ask that :)

You'll have the wand for one day; its effect will have no limit.

In that case, cliché as it may be, I would wave my wand in such a way that I rooted out in all humans and humans-to-be (hey, it's magic) whatever it is that causes violent thoughts, violent intentions, violent speech, and unnecessarily violent acts.

Hey, somebody besides me express themselves in English already*! It's a good question: it makes you think about what you want most for either yourselves, others, or the world—and there's not many better things to think about than that.

*Incidentally, in colloquial English, using the word "already" with an imperative (command) is a very emphatic way of saying "Hurry up!" For example, "Turn off the TV already!" basically means "Hurry up and turn off the TV! What are you waiting for?!?"

Actually the question was asked by CanOner with a private message. My answers would be:
1- I would extend the using time of the wand so that it could never expire. :)
2- I would give some mind and thought to the people who think any thing can be improved using a magic wand.

It looks as if you would use your wand to make everybody answer this question. :icon_bah:

There is this one, of course, but I've always thought of that as cheating with this type of question, so I always studiously avoid it.

The opposite of it is told about in an old Irish joke:

An Irishman finds a lamp, rubs it, and out comes a genie. The genie tells the Irishman, "You've got two wishes."

"Two!" roars the Irishman. "I thought it was supposed to be three!"

"Well," answers the genie, "I'm an Irish genie, and you've got two."

"In that case," says the Irishman, "I want a pint of Guinness [a dark Irish beer] that never ends."

The genie waves his arms about a bit and poof! there before the Irishman is a pint of Guinness. The Irishman brings it up to his lips, takes a long draught of the delicious brew, notices that even after such a long draught the level of the Guinness has remained precisely the same in the glass, and excitedly exclaims:

"That's fantastic! I'll have another one of those!"

2- I would give some mind and thought to the people who think any thing can be improved using a magic wand.

Hey, it's a second conditional. What are you gonna do?

Yeah, it was a bit nasty, but hey, I snuck* that grammar point about "already" in there, too, so give a guy some credit (even if it is deservedly minimal).

*This is the past tense of "sneak" in my dialect; I don't know how "standard" it is considered.

It's not my thread, but I don't see why not.

One day a boss and his two officers were studying in an office. An elf came and ask them the famous question. You can wish only one thing and whatever you wish will be realised.

First the Human Resources Manager wished that he would like to go to Hawaii Islands for a forever holiday. He suddenly disappeared.

Second Marketing Manager wished that he would like to go to Bahama's for a forever holiday. He also disappeared immediately.

The last turn was belonged to the boss. He said: 'I want two of them in their office and work'

I hope I was able to express this funny joke in English...

what is abaza mean in English

As an adjective, "horny". As a noun—and in very colloquial (and maybe exclusively American) English—"horndog".
