Sanırım burası "spend" olacak.
Bu cümlede "insanların eskiye göre çalışmaya daha fazla zaman ayırdığı" ndan bahsediyor. fakat paragrafta bunu dolaylı ya da direk destekleyen bir cümleye raslamadım.
Fakat "Amerikalıların otomobillerini eskiye nazaran daha az sevdiklerinden" bahsetmekte. Belki de bununla karıştırmışsındır.

Aslında ikisinin de yanlışlığı aynı kelimede gizli. Evet,trafik yoğunluğu var. İşe gidip gelme var. Ama "günlerinin/zamanlarının çoğunu bunlar için harcarlar" diye bir anlam çıkmıyor. Yani "most of" dediğimiz zaman yarıdan fazlası oluyor.
