I can say, from experience, that it's extremely common. Both the Turkish government and private organizations like to try and suck extra money out of foreigners—I've even encountered separate English-language menus at restaurants where the prices are much higher than they are on the Turkish-language menus.

Of course, no one has any right whatsoever to do such a thing, but the concept of fairness has almost no connection with either bureaucrats or capitalists.

(Lucky for me, I speak Turkish, so I can always manage to pay the lower price. ;))

( in abroad ? I think I used wrong ?Is it true ? )

Just “abroad” by itself is enough.

If you are ... abroad ? :D

Well, I don’t know. I’ve never seen any other place that charges more money for “foreigners” than for “citizens”—where I come from, for instance, that sort of thing isn’t done.

But in any case, blatantly unfair is blatantly unfair no matter where one is.

That is typical of developing countries' citizens aiming to develop faster :stretch:

In this case, bargaining would be very helpful to solve the problems a foreigner might have... What about 1.5 YTL ?? Is it OK ?? :)

Even the State charges more money for foreigners than for citizens in some touristic places such as Göreme Open Air Museum and unfourtunately native people do so, too and sometimes they really charge so much more......
As a person who worked in a touristic place for 2 or 3 years, when the tourist seems eager to buy any kind of stuff, the salesmen say higher than the real price :(

yes they frequently do that adn unfortunately without knowing how to bargain. They just hear their guide saying you should bargaing when you buy anything in Turkey and they come and bargain or rather they can't bargain:)

I remember two Slovaks having bargained for a postcard, just a postcard (no no, it was two postcards:))
