Can you please tell the grammatical structures of subjunctives, to be clearer I need concise information about inflected and uniflected forms. The doctor ADVISES (present intro.)that she HAS (Present Simple) / HAVE (uninflected verb form) /SHOULD HAVE an operation. The doctor ADVISED that she HAD/ HAVE / SHOULD HAVE an operation. Passive is done/ be done/ should be done was done/be done/should be done :)) SibelAKBULUT 6th August 2007, 00:32 But which one is inflected and which one is uninflected Sir? The doctor ADVISES (present intro.)that she HAS (Present Simple) / HAVE (uninflected verb form) /SHOULD HAVE an operation. The doctor ADVISED that she HAD/ HAVE / SHOULD HAVE an operation. Saadet Çadır 6th August 2007, 00:38 But which one is inflected and which one is uninflected MA'AM? :)) You mean which verbs, nouns and adj.s take them or which ones are uninf. in the examples above? If the latter is the case, the answer is HAVE (no change according to the tense or subject ) I advise that SHE HAVE an operation soon. I advised that SHE HAVE an .... I advise / advised that she BE TAKEN to hospital .(passive uninf.) :)) SibelAKBULUT 6th August 2007, 01:15 These examples are given in my book (Guide to advanced grammar): The teacher suggested that the student be hardworking. -> uninflected The teacher suggested that the student was lazy. -> inflected In these examples, the verb "suggest" is the same... Bir süreliğine bu böyle dursun, kafam daha sakinken tekrardan bakayım ben:o. İlgilendiğiniz için teşekkürler. İngilizcede bazı fiiler (advise, demand, order, beg ,forbid, insist vs), sıfatlar (advisable, necessary, essential vs) ve isimler (advice, necessity, insistence vb9 kendilerinden sonra gelen THAT CLAUSE içerisindeki cümlelerin fiillerini 3 şekilde alabilirler 1- Çekimsiz-Yani that cl un fiili cümlesinin öznesine ya da olası tense ine göre çekimlenmez eg; I advise yada I advised THAT she SEE a doctor. (ki buradaki SEE ne SHE ye göre ne de ADVISE fiilinin Present ya da past oluşuna göre çekimlenmemiştir) THAT CL un fiili PASSIVE olsaydı o zaman da BE+V3 olurdu eg; I advise ya da I advised THAT she BE TAKEN to hospital soon. 2- Ana fiilin TENSE ine göre PRESENT ya da PAST olabilirler. I advise THAT she SEES a doctor. I advise THAT she IS TAKEN to a .... I advised THAT she SAW a .. I advised THAT she WAS TAKEN ..... 3- Girişin PAST mı PRESENT mı olduğuna bakılmaksızın SHOULD ile kullanılabilirler I advise yada I advised THAT she SHOULD SEE ... I advise yada I advised THAT she SHOULD BE TAKEN to ... Is that OK?:)) |
